Welcome to Painted Gardens! We are a florist shop and flower farm located in Canterbury, CT. My name’s Shannon, and my partner Justin and I are excited to share our story with you!
After almost 10 years in the horticulture industry as a grower I was struggling to feel passionate about my work. It was not until losing my aunt, one of my biggest supporters, to a long battle with cancer, that I decided to prioritize my life.
I was lucky to receive a job at a florist shop where I fell head over heels for the art form. Having always been an artist, it felt magical to combine my love for growing with floral design. Since then, I have established an eclectic and whimsical, garden-style of floristry. Justin and I had always planned for a farm; however, my newfound love laid the foundation for what we have built and continue to build towards each day.
Justin is the glue that holds Painted Gardens together. He has an incredible way of making amazing things happen no matter the obstacles. On top of that he is a skilled carpenter, painter, and grower!
With our combined love for animals, nature, and art we have dedicated our life to building this farm, as well as working with flowers to create stunning arrangements and gifts for everyone to enjoy.
This upcoming season we will be growing over fifty dahlia varieties (our specialty) as well as many other gorgeous fresh stems. Our first year in business is dedicated to my aunt, Tracy Sormanti. Thank you for making me strong, and always sharing that nothing extraordinary comes without hard work and determination to never give up.
